An official application establishing this local chapter under Friends of State Parks has been submitted for approval, with acceptance anticipated at the state-level meeting of Friends of State Parks scheduled for October 27, 2012. Key business items were approved at the meeting, with noted support of Morrow Mountain's Old Fashioned Day to be held on November 4, 2012.

Sunday's perfect temperatures and fall colors brought a steady stream of traffic to enjoy the panoramic views of Morrow Mountain State Park. Stanly County is fortunate to have such valuable gifts of nature. Friends of Morrow Mountain State Park are committed to supporting, protecting, and preserving this natural resource for the benefit of current and future generations.
