Friends of Morrow Mountain State Park is hosting a "geology hike" on Sunday, December 7th from 2-5 pm. The starting point will be at the head of the Quarry Trail, at the lower end of the picnic area parking lot past the swimming pool. The hike guide will be Steve Teeter, a retired high school/university Earth Sciences Educator. This should be a very informative outing for anyone who is interested in the geologic history of the Uwharrie region and the evidence in the park for volcanism. We will focus on the old Argillite quarry on the Quarry Trail and then will proceed to the top of Morrow Mountain for a study of the meta-rhyodacite rock.

The hiking should not be too strenuous; please dress for the weather. We look forward to seeing you there!
